Uni experience so far

A new era for me.

I took admission in one of my state’s supposedly “premier” institutions. But I treating it like a trial run and a way to try blending into the world.

Here are some of the things I found in the last few weeks of shifting into a new place not very far from where I used to physically live for the last 15 years but quite far mentally:

  1. I thought people would be smarter. Nope, every where you go, there will be people dumb enough to make you misanthropic.
  2. People are not really real. Everyone has ulterior motives. Everyone is looking out for themselves without really looking in. Those who are not feel the same degradation I feel when I live amongst such un-reality.
  3. So much politics. So much diplomacy. Electoral candidates playing good guy before the election season begins, so much induction, so much influenced and biased behavior.
  4. And so many fucking WhatsApp groups. So degrading and it makes you feel like you’re constantly connected to something so alien. So abnormally connected that you feel disconnected with who you are and what you really want. It made me disgustingly addicted; I am trying to cut off from that stuff. Because not everything requires immediate response.
  5. But sometimes you really find great people, people whose company you can truly enjoy, without trying to mask your fear, your apathy towards banality, and just be. Sometimes you find deep connections, not only in the institutions but also while travelling and in places that you wouldn’t think you’d fine good stuff.
  6. You learn to navigate through otherness (as Byung-Chul Han puts it). You let it seep inside you and let it grow. It’s a whole new biosphere, it’s a whole new sea. It’s a skill that you develop with time.
  7. But mostly it’s a breeding ground for your social self. You learn ways to say things nicer, learn to articulate things better and so on, provided you have the right crowd.
  8. You learn to let go of what people think of you. It’s not that important, you realise. Nobody really cares and you come to terms with it and try to live the life you want.
  9. And man those stomach problems. Can’t neglect those. Moving into a new place is not that cool.

As I said, it’s just a trial run. I just want to get this kind of “rapturous” experience before I really get into an institute that I really want. Right now, I am not really satisfied with the institution, but I am impressed by the things I learned so far.
