What do the ministers and politicians do to turn things in their favor?
The most classic tactic in political and zombie apocalypse history: Wait things out. Don’t listen, don’t give in. Let things work themselves out, because they eventually will.
This is what they did before, and what they are doing now in 2026.
Multiple reasons why this works quite well. It’s a mixture of human psychology and Indians being Indians.
The government knows that people forget things quickly and easily. Even more so now because:
- Attention spans are decreasing.
- The internet and social media is full of misinformation. It’s easier to flood it and overwhelm people than try meeting peoples’ demands.
- People have their own problems that need fixing, thanks to the whole “pothole” mentality of the country’s systems. Nothing is ever fixed permanently, only ad-hoc solutions are applied which later bite them back. Everything takes a bit too much time.
Also because people don’t really have all the time in the world to stand up for causes. They didn’t have white-collar jobs, mobile phones, tech and so on during the Civil Disobedience movement. It’s easier to be busy now than to do something that has a positive impact on the future.
Everyone has something to do. They have families to feed, and meetings to attend. Standing up for truth costs salary, time and a bit of sleep. Here’s what people think, especially the people in white-collar jobs.
It’s better to live in the system you are currently in. Because you have stability and assurance that you’ll be fed and have a roof over your head.
Why? Because it is going to be a bit more work? Because they’re afraid? I can’t really say.
And it’s this very mindset that the government exploits. They want you to be stagnant, to keep you content with what you have right now. They give you micro-doses of the “better future” that they promised 15 years ago to keep you in a baseline. They immobilize you.
The country is in a rather “Orwellian” state. The day of 17th July, 2026 is a reminder that this country doesn’t stand up for what it once did. That now, it’s just fools ruling over (mostly) other fools.
Eventually, everyone will go back to their lives, regardless of any alarms, warning, red flags. This is human nature, and the nature of the “busy” Indian population. Things are only a matter of patience.
Time is easier to kill when you have almost everything. Pretty much impervious. It’s so easy for them to wait. Just live inside 2 Crore bungalows and chillax. I bet this is what Pradhan is doing.
Radical changes rarely happen in the country which has the same Prime Minister for over 15 years. (And for him, ignorance is bliss. “Let the country go to rot while I get myself some awards,” eh?)
Here are a list of incidents where this tactic was/is being used:
- Sonam Wangchuk & CJP’s Hunger Strike against the education ministry. 20+ days of inaction.
- Zubeen Garg (in)justice case. No progress.
- BJP electoral bond / money laundering scam. Really everyone just forgot, huh?
- Ram Mandir Donation Theft
- ED’s “weird” charges on Arvind Kejriwal
- Ethanol and petrol mixture nuisance.
- And more recently, the data breach from one of the nuclear power plants.
And so on. But everyone will eventually forget, won’t they?
I’d have thought that manipulating people on a large scale would be a cumbersome task, but no! This country is in a mass hysteria! I cannot believe how blind people are sometimes. This is what happens when you don’t let competition happen. When you let brutes dominate over you and let them do whatever they want. And for what? Some money? A few bridges and hospitals?
But not all of us are blind. Some of us are just helpless. Problem is, for every non-blind, there are 5 blind person waiting to stand up against you.
Honorable mentions of some other dishonorable tasks:
- Communal Riots; works every time.
- Buying votes via selling people schemes.
- Labeling people “anti-national” if they “talk too much”: Rathi, Wangchuk.
The government is playing a longer game of desensitizing people towards socio-economic, infrastructural and administrative problems. A game that only produces losers.
